CHARACTERIZED BY HISTORY.

REIMAGINED BY LUXURY.

Located in the heart of downtown Orlando, Samsara is a one of a kind living experience with a mix of historic charm & modern comforts.

A new concept by Developer Mark Kinchla

Built in 1928, the property on 331 Cathcart Ave. is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and still stands as an downtown Orlando landmark. Being slated for demolition on three different occasions and considering the rebounding real estate market, the property's name Samsara is perfectly suiting, which is Sanskrit for "rebirth."

Each townhome will have three and a half stories, an elevator, and a rooftop terrace for magnificent views of the city. Garage doors will have access from East Ridgewood Street. The Kinchlas are salvaging wooden features and pews from the church for use inside the units.

Mark Kinchla, originally from Boston, has done many other projects in Orlando, including the Casa Eola townhomes at Livingston and Cathcart, and the large Lakeside at Delaney condo conversion.

Kinchla bought the church, 331 Cathcart Ave. in June from the Diocese of Orlando, who previously planned to put an auditorium in the building. As a historic renovation, each unit will be eligible for a $50,000 tax credit spread over 10 years.

At a family Sunday brunch, I had the idea of naming the project “Samsara”, meaning rebirth. I felt that it was a perfect fit for the building, seeing as it dodged a wrecking ball on two occasions before my father and developer, Mark Kinchla salvaged this historic gem.

Being converted into five very unique living spaces, it is my Dad’s vision to create these similar to that of Deigo della Velle’s redo of the Roman Coliseum- an iconic architectural rebirth. I am so excited to see the beautiful historic building transform into a luxurious and quintessential downtown development.

“I fell in love with the Lake Eola/ Thornton Park area almost immediately when I moved to Florida. I knew that this is where I wanted to be. I was lucky enough to meet Mark Kinchla almost two years ago, and saw that he had the same vision of “”what could be”” that I did. The difference is, Mark actually knew how to do something about it!

Once I saw the designs for Samsara, it didn’t take long for me to become the first buyer. I am having so much fun watching the progress, and am proud to be a small part of the transformation that Downtown Orlando is experiencing. It’s going to be special.”
— Scott Polk
How exciting to see an adaptive reuse of this historic building in our neighborhood.
Thank you, Mark for giving this structure a new life!
